The Integrated Research Training Group
IRTG – will promote young researchers (PhD researchers and postdocs) within CataLight and enable them to reach their full potential as future leaders in academia or industry. To this end, the iRTG will work closely with well-established organizational career development structures of the participating institutions (the Jena Graduate Academy (JGA) and the Graduate and Professional Training Center Ulm (ProTrain Ulm)) and will ensure an interdisciplinary education and supervision of the young researchers with a specific focus on their needs in terms of research personnel, management and social skills. This includes specialized trainings and a formalized mentoring program as well as the organization of summer schools, annual PhD conferences and the co-administration of the Visiting Scientists Program and incoming/outgoing CataLight fellowships. The iRTG will be responsible for central young researcher recruitment and selection using a transparent process based on scientific excellence, suitable research background and personal fit. The iRTG will also install interdisciplinary supervision and training for the early stage researchers.
